SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:

Say HI to Sydney Pike!  Sydney plans plan on attending USD this fall to major in Exercise Science. “I chose this path because I have always enjoyed being an athlete and living an active lifestyle, and I hope that by pursing this degree I am able to do that!” Some of Sydney’s favorite food place is Pauly’s because she loves their pizza! She really loves Olive Garden and Mackenzie River also. Some of Sydney’s best advice given to her so far is “To never give up. Many of my teachers have told me that throughout my life, and I just think that it’s a really good piece of advice because it is easy to give up. I have always used that advice to help me in achieving my goals.” To learn more about this bright young lady, read below!

Q. Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

I plan on attending USD this fall to major in Exercise Science. I chose this path because I have always enjoyed being an athlete and living an active lifestyle, and I hope that by pursing this degree I am able to do that!

Q. Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I live in a family of four plus one dog! My mom and dad have been happily married for 21 years and I have a younger sister who will be a junior this fall! My dog’s name is Lilo and she will be 2 this September!

Q. What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

My favorite is Pauly’s because I love their pizza! I also really love Olive Garden and Mackenzie River!

Q. Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

The most interesting person I have met is probably my gym teacher, Mr. Hagen! He is a pretty cool guy with a big heart!

Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

I would travel to Hawaii because I have always wanted to go there!

Q. What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I love horror movies and thrillers! One of my favorite movies is the classic Halloween! I also love watching TV shows on Netflix such as, You, Riverdale, All American, Stranger Things, and Vampire Diaries.

Q. What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher?

The best advice I have received would probably be to never give up. Many of my teachers have told me that throughout my life, and I just think that it’s a really good piece of advice because it is easy to give up. I have always used that advice to help me in achieving my goals.

Q. What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

Queen!!

Q. If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

I would love to have lunch with my favorite teacher, Tanya Oldham! I would probably meet her at Pauly’s because it’s casual and it’s really easy to chat and catch up there!

Q. What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

My favorite thing about our community is how much everyone comes together through the hard times. I think that it’s great to feel like everyone has your back!

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

In 5-10 years, I see myself starting my life! I will hopefully be successful in my career, as well as be happily married! I hope to have a dog too! 🙂

Q. What show are you binge watching right now?

Vampire Diaries

Q. Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

My favorite month is easily October, and my favorite holiday is Halloween! I don’t really have a single best day in mind because every day brings something new!

Q. Who inspires you to be better?

My family, my sister, my boyfriend, my close friends, and all of my teachers inspire me to be better!

Q. If you could go back over your entire school career what is one thing you would do different?

One thing I would do differently is get more involved in the school earlier on! I waited to get involved until my junior year, and I have regretted not getting involved sooner ever since.

Q. Who or what do you miss the most right now?

I miss my school, my teachers, and my friends the most right now! I really wish the school year would have ended differently and that I would have had the chance to say goodbye! 🙁

Q. What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

I would love to celebrate my senior prom as well as have a real graduation! However, if I don’t get a chance to do that then I will be taking advantage of being able to go hang out at various places with my friends!
