Meet and say HI to Rebekah Cox! We highlighted her amazing Mom yesterday (Melody). Rebakah’s after graduation plans are attend Black Hills State University this next year to study journalism and criminal justice. To learn more about Rebekah, read below!
Q. Where do you go to school?
Rapid City Stevens High School
Q. Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?
I plan to go to BHSU & then Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville to study journalism and criminal justice. I fell in love with Nashville when I went for a vacation. I also love writing and find crime very interesting.
Q. Please tell us a little bit about your family?
My mother is a mortgage loan officer and my father is retired military and is now an eighth grade math teacher. I have 3 brothers. About a year and a half ago, my family took in my four cousins and we are now a family of 10 instead of 6.
Q. What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, Perkins
Q. Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
My Intro to Criminal Justice Professor, Pete Ragnone. He is a retired cop and served for 20+ years. He is a great teacher and has many stories to tell about his experiences.
Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Egypt, because I’ve wanted to go there since I first learned about it in school. Everything about it is very interesting
Q. What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favorite movie is Ferngully. My favorite shows are Friends and Supernatural.
Q. What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?
The best advice I’ve gotten is to keep working my my writing. The teacher was Mrs Fox, my 7th grade English teacher. This was the class where I realized I loved writing.
Q. What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Dan and Shay
Q. If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Carrie Underwood because she is my idol. I would love to give her a hug and thank her for being her.
We would go to Olive Garden because it’s a nice place and I really like the food.
Q. What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The hills and the scenery
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see my self married with at least one kid in ten years. I also see myself as a very successful journalist with a crime column.
Q. What show are you binge watching right now?

Q. Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Favorite month is March, favorite holiday is Christmas, and favorite day is 4th of July
Q. Who inspires you to be better?
Q. If you could go back over your entire school career what is one thing you would do different?
I don’t think I would want to change anything in my school career. Every experience I’ve had or anything I’ve done in school has helped me grow and become a better person and helped me realize who I wanted to be.
Q. Who or what do you miss the most right now?
My friends, my teachers and actually going to school.
Q. What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?
Hug a whole bunch of people. I also want to walk/graduate in my cap and gown.
