Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: I am a Mortgage Banker here at Dacotah Bank here in Rapid City. I am very open telling people that I got in to mortgage by accident. I started 8 years ago as a Temp at a processing center in Spearfish until I found something more glamorous and artsy and all the things that a young woman thinks she can achieve, and I fell in love with it. God knew this was for me

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Rapid City, and what do you love there?

A: Favorite restaurant is hard because I really love food and I think Rapid has a lot of good places here. I really like Fork Real Café.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Rapid City?

A: I was born and raised in this area from the small town of Wall, South Dakota. I moved away for a while and have been back about a year and a half.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Rapid City?

A: Rapid City has a lot of interesting characters and wonderful people. I recently have gotten to know a woman by the name Katie Kinnin, she is amazing, her heart, her drive, the way she makes you feel comfortable, she’s very interesting & has a dynamic story.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?

A: Somewhere warm is easy to start there. I like to travel but I have to say right now I’m really interested in vacationing rather than travelling. So, it will be somewhere warm, with interesting people and interesting culture.

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?

A: First movie is difficult, so I have not had a television over a decade, so I don’t even know what movies are coming out because I never see advertisement. I’ve seen a lot of movies but the last movie I truly remember was at the Elks Theater here in Rapid City, it was the Lion King and I was probably at 5. It’s a good movie and is still my favorite.

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A: I’ve had a what I call a colorful past, I’ve been through a lot of really hard times and it has made me really become comfortable with who I am and I think you get to a point where you realized all the things that you worried about whether you thought what other people were saying majority of the time they weren’t like people’s lives don’t revolve around you. But that’s also two folds because I think there’s people who feels very unseen but, all you have to do is find your tribe and don’t worry about the rest.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: I, probably since the age of 13, every year on my birthday, I’d do something that I have never done before, and I have always wanted to do. So that has been from 1 year, my cousin coordinated from a friend to show up and throw a pie on my face. One year I threw plates at a bullseye just to break them.  Couple years ago, in Mexico I went to bungee jumping. So, I really don’t know my bucket list because as I hear something or learn of something new, I’m like, yeah, I need to do that and try to do it as soon as possible.

Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: I love music. I have one of those brains that absorbs lyrics but not artists or bands. Right now, what has really changed my life is actually Contemporary Christian music, I would say up until about 8 years ago, I didn’t even know it existed. It was December and I was listening to KSLT because they played Christmas music all December which I love and then as the month wound down they said, 30-day challenge, just listen to our regular program for 30 days and if it doesn’t change your life then go back to whatever you listen to and I have been listening to Christian music ever since.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Rapid City?

A: I think this is an incredibly fun city. People who don’t feel that way are really trying not to see that. There’s always something going on whether you have a family, or you don’t have a family. It’s really a wonderful community. Business’s provide a lot of different events to attend.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A: We are trying to adopt a child or children so in 5 years, more kids. I am starting to try to cultivate what’s important to me and actually spend time on that so I hope that in 5 years I’ll be doing more of the priorities that I have set out specifically empowering women, impacting their future. I think our future is bright. In 10 years…. retired? Ha-ha.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

A: This is of no substance to anyone, but I can touch my nose with my tongue.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: Safety, Family and Black Hills. Now I am very fortunate to be living here but when I wasn’t living here any time, I thought about home it was the Black Hills; my heart was here and so many people I love are here.

Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose? Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?

A: ‘I’d probably choose a Chef. My husband does 95 if not 100% of the cooking and he does a wonderful job, but we could spend more time together if he didn’t have to cook.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A: Zooey Deschanel. I think she’s very charming and she’s also musician.
