He told me that a test does not define you but what it’s what is in your heart. This hit home for me my freshman year. Q. Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

I will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona this fall. I plan to study Elementary Education with an emphasis in Spanish. I have been inspired to choose this path because of the teachers I have had growing up. I see their true love for teaching students and helping them the best they can. I want to do the same someday for my future students. I have also chosen to pursue Spanish. I have taken four years of Spanish at my high school. I was able to learn not only the language, but also the rich culture that is held within the language. I want others to create the same passion I have for Spanish culture.

Q. Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I am a part of a family of six with three siblings and two loving parents. I have an older sister who is married and currently in nursing school. I also have a twin brother who plans to attend Chadron State next year to pursue studies in human biology. I also have a litter sister who will be entering high school in the fall at Central High School. My parents are both realtors here in Rapid City.

Some of my favorite restaurants in are community are many. I love Black Hills Blend and Dixon for a place to get my morning coffee. I enjoy Tally’s Silver Spoon for a place to get a savory breakfast. For a delicious and filling lunch my favorites are Qdoba, Taco Bell, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe. When my family and I go out to eat together we enjoy Red Lobster, Fuji Sushi & Stake Bar, and Alpine Inn. When I am in need of a sweet treat my firsts stop are Armadillos, Culvers, and McDonalds.

Q. Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

The most interesting person I have met in our community is Lynne Williams. Lynne is a member at the church we both attend weekly, Parkview E Free. Lynne and her husband Greg have adopted nearly half of their children. I have got the pleasure to go on a mission’s trip with Lynne to Mexico in the summer of 2019. Lynne has a personality of a mom and is always looking out for everyone around her. Many have given her the nickname of “Mamma Lynne”. This has stuck with her and if you are luckily enough you can spot her around town driving her big black van with the license plate as “Mamma Lynne”.

Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

If I could travel anywhere in the world right now, I would travel to Patagonia, Argentina. When I was in my first year of Spanish my teacher had us do a “country research” weekly. We were assigned a Spanish speaking country and were able to learn deeply about that country. My country was Argentina and I learned many things I still think about today. Most people know Patagonia as a clothing brand sold in many sporting goods stores. The clothing brand was created based off of this place in Argentina. Because of the cool climate and mild weather. I would love to go to Patagonia to be able to use my Spanish speaking skills while meeting new people and seeing new beautiful sights.

Q. What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

One of my favorite movies right now is “Life of the Party”. the movie is about a mom who wants to finish her schooling and goes to the same college her daughter goes to. One of my favorite TV shows is “Grey’s Anatomy”. This show is about doctors and their families and does a good job of keeping you hooked.

Q. What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

The best advice I have received was from my civics/geography teacher my freshman year, Mr. McCulley. He told me that a test does not define you but what it’s what is in your heart. This hit home for me my freshman year. I had the mindset that if I did bad on a test that meant I was a bad student, but he told me different. He continued to explain that just because you have one bad test doesn’t mean you are a bad student. To this day I use this mindset as I take any test.

Taylor Swift

Q. If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

I would love to have lunch at Tally’s Silver Spoon with Mr. Sales. Mr. Sales was a huge part of my high school career. During my sophomore year playing soccer I had a hard hit to the head. I was not able to recover and get back to my “normal”. This caused me to have to learn differently and change my “normal”. Mr. Sales helped me do this day after day. I would love to have lunch with him and catch up and thank him for the impact her had on my life.

Q. What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

My favorite thing about our community is the bond we have with each other. I love to see how our community helps one another when they are in need or just to make them feel special. I have gotten to see this more than ever as our seniors in our community has not gotten the senior year they wanted. Right now, the thing I miss the most is my church family. There is such a powerful connection when I am with fellow believers. I was blessed to take a mission’s trip last summer to Mexico and L.A.
