Darci Beatty

Meet and welcome To The Faces of Rapid City, Darci Beatty! Darci and I had spoke right before COVID hit our area & then well, as you know…months later with homeschooling & work, here we are getting back on track! Darci was such a pleasure to visit with & I highly encourage you to stop in to The Bestro for a bite of some of their yummy foods OR something to wet your whistle!  While you are at it, meander on over to their beautiful showroom, BES Lighting, and I am sure you are to find just the right light!! Please take a minute to read about this wonderful lady that took time out of her busy day to answer all my questions ….

Q. Please tell us a little bit about your family.

* I am married to my husband of 25 years and have 5 children, 3 boys, 2 girls. All of the kids have grown up helping out in the family businesses.

Q. Please tell us about your current career. Thing you love most about what you do.

Right now I am the owner/manager of The Bestro. What I love about my job is interacting with the customers and making sure they have a great experience when they come in. The goal from day one has been to treat every customer as if they are a guest in our own home. It’s very rewarding when we feel like we have accomplished that.

Q. What inspired you or led you to your current career?

I have always enjoyed baking and cooking for my family and friends. For several years I would joke around and say “If I had a restaurant, I would do this…”never realizing someday that would become a reality. My husband had wanted a coffee bar in BES Lighting, our other business, for years, but the timing wasn’t right. When we expanded BES Lighting in 2017, we had the perfect place to put in a café that would serve to enhance the customer experience at BES Lighting, as well as give me an outlet to cook and bake for others.

Q. What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

* Tally’s, Colonial House and Ron’s Cafe for breakfast and Delmonico Grill for special occasions.

Q. How long have you lived or worked in our community?

* 25 years

Q. Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

* Mimi Tschida

Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

* Alaska, a cruise or road trip. Because it’s a beautiful place and I’ve never been there.

Q. What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows? Cool Runnings.

Q. What advice would you give to people?

* Don’t give in to your fear, or believe the lies that you aren’t good enough or that things will never change. You have a purpose in this life. Find ways to bless and serve others and you will find joy.

Q. What is something on your bucket list?

* Write a book.

Q. What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?  * Fjord’s ice cream shop

Q. If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

* Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond) because I think we have a lot in common. I would take her to The Bestro, which sounds kind of selffulfilling, but I hope if the tables were turned, she would take me to her restaurant, The Mercantile.

Q. What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

* The bike path and all the different parks we have in town, not to mention 2 rock carvings in the area, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

* Either still working at The Bestro or retired and having a completely new adventure with my husband.

Q. (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

* I have a sensitive heart and cry a lot.

Q. What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

* Butchart Gardens when I was 5 or 6 years old.

Q. Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

Q. Who inspires you to be better?

*My husband. He never backs down from a challenge and always finds a way to solve the problems that come along to accomplish his goals. Just by being with him has inspired me to face some of my own fears and realize that I can do more than I ever thought I could.

Q. Whatare some of your favorite smells?

Q. If a movie was made of your life, who would you want to play you?
