Catherine Greseth

Meet Catherine Greseth..She is the Executive Director of the Workforce Diversity Network of the Black Hills. Catherine is a Wife, Mom and Grandma to 11 grandkiddos! She LOVES all of the Black Hills! Q. Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have lived in the Black Hills 3 times since the early 80’s. Both of my daughters spent some of their childhood here. My husband and I moved back to South Dakota in 2014. I have 2 daughters my husband has 2 sons both raised in western South Dakota. Together we have 11 grandchildren.

Q. Please tell us about your current career. Thing you love most about what you do.

I’m the Executive Director of the Workforce Diversity Network of the Black Hills. I educate buisnesses on hiring and retaining individuals that are or become disabled. Sometimes buisnesses tell me I dont think I’ll ever hire someone with a disability and I say, you already have they just havent told you yet. I love when I here that a buisness found the perfect match for a position they had, or how the new employee has made the entire staff more motivated.

Q. What inspired you or led you to your current career?

I lost my eyesight 12 years ago. I was a regional manager in the health field at the time. I educated doctors on the criteria for hospice and longterm care. I could still do my job but needed my husband to drive for me. When I brought a doctors note in, I got fired. I told my husband, someone needed educate businesses on disabilities, he said where will you find that job? The Black Hills of South Dakota of course!

Q. What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

Q. How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I started my career in 1984 at KBHB in Sturgis and then the Marketing Director for G and N Enterprises that included Western Way.I was gone for 18 years and came back in 2014.

Q. Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

I’ve met so many, from Movie Stars like Kevin Cosner, Artists Scott Jacob’s, Musicians…I had the privilege of producing the 1st big Sturgis concert with Stepn Wolf in 1987 There were very few hotels so the crew stayed at my home. I also met Malcom Forbs and Elizabeth Taylor Willy Nelson, Johnny Cash and the list goes on.

Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Right now we are in the middle of COVID 19, there has not been a day go by, that I dont thank God, I’m in the beautiful Black Hills! If you have to stay home , there is no place like our home!!

Q. What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Q. What advice would you give to people?

Dont let money be your motivator, if you do,you’ll never take the risks that lead to a life well lived.

Q. What is something on your bucket list?

I dont have a bucket list, I would of missed out on so many opportunities if I had stuck to a list.

Q. What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

Q. What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

Philtown in Sturgis

Q. If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

Q. What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

Our Old West History!

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

On a book tour

Q. (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I had my 1st class engineers license, when I went into radio.

Hawaii

Memories, it’s not how big the house is, it’s how happy the home is…I think I’ll head for the Cabin
